Michael John Dunne RIP

On Wednesday morning, the sad news filtered through the parish of the sad passing of the great Michael John Dunne.

Michael John was Captain of the Junior team that won the Co. Junior Final of 1964, beating Loughrea. He was also part of the winning Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta team. He wore the No. 10 Jersey with pride and continued to support the Club all his life.

To his wife Mary, children Cathal, Michael, Brendan, Sinead, Ciara, and the extended Dunne family, we offer our deepest sympathy.

” The world has lost a wonderful man, but Heaven has gained a great soul”.

Michael John died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family on the 3rd of September 2024.

Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Patrick, sisters Bridie McCann, Nora O’Halloran and Mary Noone.

Cherished and dearly loved by his wife Mary, sons Cathal, Michael and Brendan, daughters Sinéad and Ciara, daughters-in-law Caroline and Patricia, son-in-law Martin, his adored grandchildren Caoimhe, Cillín, Clíona, Conor, James and Olivia, brother Padraic and sisters Margaret Peyton and Tina Durkin. Michael John will be fondly remembered and sadly missed also by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, the extended Dunne and Keane families, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
